The Honeymooners was a CBS network sitcom starring Jackie Gleason, Audrey Meadows, Art Carney and Joyce Randolph.
The show was based on a recurring 1951-1955 sketch which originally aired on the DuMont network show "Cavalcade of Stars" (later called "The Jackie Gleason Show").
It aired as a half-hour TV series from October 1, 1955 to September 22, 1956, lasting for only one season and 39 episodes.
The show was one of the first U.S. television shows to portray working-class married couples in a gritty, non-idyllic manner ("The Honeymooners" is set mostly in the Kramdens' kitchen in a neglected Brooklyn apartment building).
The show was about Ralph Kramden, a New York bus driver who dreams of having a better life.
With his eccentric good friend, Ed Norton the sewer worker, he constantly tries crackpot schemes to strike it rich. All the while, Ralph's exasperated wife, Alice is always there to bring him down to earth or to pick him up if he beats her to it.
